VELO POUR FEMME ROUND UP

The 4th annual Velo Pour Femme went down this past Sunday and it was a fantastic turn out. 48 ladies fronted up to take on the 15km course around Melbourne. Leaving from Ponybikes, checkpoints were The Women’s Ride Hub at the Docklands, Riverside Skatepark at Alexandra Gardens, The Melbourne Museum and the Melbourne Zoo. PUSHY WOMEN SOUTH SPEAKING EVENT

Here are Pony, we love women. We love bikes too, which is handy, because The Squeaky Wheel’s upcoming Pushy Women South speaking event ties the two together in the most magnificent of manners. The event marks the launch of She Spoke 2014- a three month festival with the sole aim of encouraging more women to get on bikes. TREADLIE BIKE HUB

The good people at Treadlie are running the Treadlie Bike Hub this weekend at Birrarung Marr. It’s a three day market, running from tomorrow ’til Sunday (14th-16th of Feb). There’ll be around 30 stalls there, as well as roller racing, Treadlie Speed Dating, Projector Film Night, mini fixies, a swap meet,  free tune ups and trial rides. MAINTENANCE CLASSES

We’ve been running maintenance classes for the last two months.   The beginners course covers: Identify working parts Safety check and identifying issues with your bike Brake adjust Gear adjust Chain lube Saddle height – contact points Handlebar position Lever position   The intermediate course covers: Brake pad/cable replace including removing callipers Gear cable replace set derailleurs and adj Headset adjustment Hub& Bottom bracket adjustment   The beginners and intermediate course run for 2 hours on a Saturday from 2 to 4pm and cost $50 each class.
