48 ladies fronted up to take on the 15km course around Melbourne.

Leaving from Ponybikes, checkpoints were The Women’s Ride Hub at the Docklands, Riverside Skatepark at Alexandra Gardens, The Melbourne Museum and the Melbourne Zoo.

There were places for 1st 2nd and 3rd as well as a time trial format for the Queen of the Streets. This involved riders completing the checkpoints, returning to Ponybikes and then heading out again to get to as many checkpoints as possible in the allotted 1 hour.

Placings for the pointy end were:

1st  Maxine Gagnon

2nd Sim Bone

3rd Melodee Malazarte

We had a three way tie for Queen of the streets and had to run a tie break which involved a sprint of Leveson St which was taken out by Sim Bone

We then made Maxine and Melo have a track stand comp, but that really wasn’t for anything except good times.

Nicky Turbolegs and Milla Mclean both smashed it by going to 2 extra checkpoints, except they didn’t come home before doing that so unfortunately it didn’t count.

The Dude Food Van once again supplied tasty treats for the punters.

For the last two years we have given away a bike at random to one lucky lass. This year the awesome folk at ATMA Cycles gave us a Satara to give away. They made Vicky cry.. seriously

PO Campo gave us wallets for every entrant, we stuffed those with vouchers from Errol St Osteo  and coupled that with the latest issue of Treadlie and a pair of socks and a water bottle from The Womens Ride

The good folk at KNOG gave us lights, locks, purses, stickers and patches that went to the winners and everyone!

Creux gave us shirts which we gave to the winners.

This event was born from the need to do something for just the ladies, and our sponsors are the people that help us make sure everyone leaves happy. Massive thanks to you guys, I got the warm and fuzzies.

This also wouldn’t have happened without the help of our volunteer checkpointers (guys, you’re awesome, I know you just do this so you can perv and not feel so bad about it, but thanks anyway 😉

Mateo took some awesome pics, which you can see here

Here’s a couple I stole
